Adult cold is medicine that contains following active substances:
•Acetaminophen (325mg),
•chlorpheniramin maleate(2mg)
•phenylephrine HCl(5 mg),
The combination of these active substances is used to relieve the symptoms of cold and flu, such as:
1.headache,
2.fever (Acetaminophen),
3.Stuffy nose (phenylephrineHCl).
4.Allergic reaction, such as rhinitis(chlorpheniramin maleate)
Precautions:
Adult cold should be avoided in the following conditions:
•Patients allergic to any of adult cold active substances.
•In patients with hepatic impairment.
•In patients with renal impairment.
•Patients who have cardiovascular disease.
•In patients who have disorder of the blood vessels known as Raynaud's phenomenon.
•In patient who have enlarged prostate.
•In patient with thyroid disorders.
•In diabetic patient.
This medicine should not be used for more than 5 days. It should be avoided in children under the age of 12.
Do not take other medicines to relieve cold and flu symptoms while using this medicine, because many of these medicines contain at least one of the adult cold active substances. Therefore, concomitant use of adult cold with these medicines increases the risk of side effects.
Use of adult cold during pregnancy and breastfeeding:
Adult cold should be avoided during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
How to use:
The usual dose is one tablet 4 times a day (every 6 hours) the maximum daily dose is 2 tablets 4 time a day.it should be avoided in children under the age of 12.
This medicine may be taken regardless of meals.
Use with other medicines (interactions)
Adult cold should be avoided in combination with the following medicines:
Medicines use in treatment cardiovascular diseases, so –called beta-blockers, such as: Metoprolo, bisoprolol, atenolol, carvedilol, propanol and others.
Medicines used in treatment of depression, such as;
Imipramine,despiramine,amitriptyline,nortriptyline,moclobemide,selegiline,isocarboxide, and others.
Tell your doctor about all medicines and herbal products you are taking.
Side effect:
Adult cold may cause the following side effect:
Palpitation, tachycardia, arrhythmias, hypertension, coronary artery spasm, dry mouth, nausea. Vomiting, diarrhea, loss of appetite, headache, dizziness, high blood pressure,
